The Fund was established in 1979 with the aim to investing in its assets and dedicating the new revenues resulting from that investment to support the University's activities, with, in particular, financing its developmental projects. The Fund enjoys an administrative and financial autonomy with its own budget. Its financial resources consist of the following:

The University's annual contribution to the Fund; aids and donations consisting of mobile and immobile assets offered to the Fund; any other resources that it may get provided they are ratified by the University's Board of Trustees; in case these resources come from non-Jordanian sources, they must be approved by the Council of Ministers; revenues obtained by investing the Fund's possessions.
